Collection InstructionsCollect using usual sterile technique. Inoculate blood culture bottle aseptically. Indicate on requisition if special organisms are of interest (e.g. Cardiobacterium)
Note: SPS should be used only for Fungal or AFB bone marrow cultures, as other bacterial organisms may be inhibited by the anticoagulant.
Handling InstructionsIf the culture bottles have been incubated, deliver to the microbiology department within 12 hours.
