Handling Instructions Immediately after collection, mix 4 mL of whole blood with equal amounts (4 mL) of ice cold 7% Perchloric Acid. Let mixture stand for 10 minutes, then centrifuge. Separate and send all of the clear supernatant in an aliquot tube at refrigerated temperature. Indicate on the requisition the volumes of blood and Perchloric Acid used.
