CRP is an acute phase reactant and can be elevated in
various acute or chronic disease states. When used for
cardiovascular disease risk assessment the following
interpretations are based on guidelines put forth by the
CDC and AHA (Circulation.2003; 107:499-511)

A single CRP result should be repeated before assignment
of cardiovascular disease risk. Patients with confirmed
