Optimum Volume 5 gm
Collection Instructions Stool specimens must be collected in Cary Blair
If using Cary Blair Transport, use the plastic spoon provided in the cap of the Cary Blair container to transfer 5 gms of sample into the buffered solution. The liquid should come up to the "fill" line on the vial. Tightly cap the vial and shake firmly to ensure that the specimen is adequately mixed with the solution
If using a FecalSwab Transport, use the swab provided to collect specimen from different areas of the stool specimen; avoid picking up clumps of stool. Insert the swab into the vial and snap the shaft at the scored area against the top of the vial. Leave the swab in the tube and tightly cap the vial; shake firmly to ensure adequate mixing with the buffered solution.
