Preferred Container	CSF in CSF collection tube; lesion swab in viral transport (UTM or M4/M6)
Other Specimen/Container	Corneal scraping in viral transport; vitrous fluid If blood is required, collect in EDTA and order WILD (Quest test code 34257). Contact Client Services for additional information.
Optimum Volume	1 mL
Collection Instructions	Tube from CSF collection and VTM cannot be shared with with non-microbiology testing.
Handling Instructions	Notify PCR area when receiving specimen
Transport Requirements	Oahu: Refrigerated Airline: Refrigerated Specimen must be frozen if transport is delayed beyond 2 Days.

Rejection Criteria	Amniotic fluid is not validated for this test, CSF in transport media including UTM
