Collection Instructions Draw sample at least 4 hours after drug ingestion to ensure that the plasma/serum concentrations have peaked. Ingestion of massive quantities of acetaminophen or of a modified- release preparation may result in delayed peak levels. In such cases, a second level should be ordered/obtained.
Handling Instructions All specimen types must be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. If no gel separation present in tube and testing is delayed, plasma/serum is aliquoted from cells within 2 hours of collection
