Skin - Punch biopsy from under the arm or inner thigh. Avoid muscle, tendons, or tough skin. It should be the size of a dime to a quarter
Internal Organs - Liver, Lung, Kidney, Thymus
Preferred Container Sterile screw-top container.
Optimum Volume 75 - 100 mg of tissue or 3-4 mm POC
Collection Instructions Obtain POC using a sterile technique. Cover the specimen with sterile gauze to prevent contamination from airborne bacteria. Place specimen in the refrigerator to keep the bacteria from overgrowing the specimen.
Handling Instructions If specimen is received beyond stability, then contact the reference lab for alternatives.
