Collection Instructions | Draw a fasting blood sugar before administering 75-gram glucose, and draw blood after two hours. Label each tube with patient's name, secondary identifier, and collection time interval (i.e fasting and two-hour). |
Handling Instructions | If specimen cannot be properly processes within 1 hour of collection, collect blood in Sodium Fluoride-Potassium Oxalate (Gray) All specimen types must be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. If no gel separation present in tube and testing is delayed, plasma/serum is aliquoted from cells within 2 hours of collection. |
