All specimen types must be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. If no gel separation present in tube and testing is delayed, plasma/serum is aliquoted from cells within 2 hours of collection.
Handling Instructions Requires pathologist approval
Draw a fasting blood sugar before administering 75 gram glucose, and draw blood at one, two, and three hour intervals
Label each tube with patient's name, secondary identifier, and collection time interval (i.e. gasting, one-hour, two-hour, and three-hour).

Frozen: 3 Months (Aliquot)
Frozen samples should be thawed only once
Unprocessed Sodium Fluoride-Potassium Oxalate (Gray) blood is stable 3 days ambient.
