A PCT...

A PCT concentration of 0.1-0.5 ng/mL may indicate a clinically relevant bacterial infection, but low risk for developing severe sepsis or septic shock. A PCT value of 0.5-2.0 ng/mL suggests that the patient may be at a higher risk for developing severe sepsis or septic shock. A PCT value of >2.0 ng/mL indicates high risk for developing severe sepsis or septic shock
Serial testing at 24-hour intervals is recommended
