Collection Instructions | Collect specimen a few hours after the patient has retired (i.e. 2200 or 2300) OR as soon as possible after patient arises and prior to defecation or bathing. Use a 3" piece of clear cellophane tape over the end of a glass slide, sticky side out. Spread apart the anal folds and press firmly with the tape in all areas of the mucocutaneous junction. Do NOT use frosted tape, such as the Scotch Magic Tape. Press the tape over the clear area of the slide (sticky side to the slide). |
Handling Instructions | Label slide with patient's name. Place slide(s) in a clean container that can be sealed or in a slide mailer Enterobiasis is very infectious. Caution should be taken when handling the specimen. |
