Collection Instructions Patient should refrain from taking vitamins, mineral or herbal supplements at least one week prior to specimen collection. Do not use a metal urinal or bedpan as a collection device. Random urine is unacceptable. To avoid contamination, do not measure 24-hour volume
During the 24 hour collection, collected urine must be transferred into an acid washed or metal-free container for the duration of the collection.
